The Beggining...

Every adventure has a beginning, and this one begins with a blog post.

HiSEAS is the "Hawaii Space Exploration Analogue & Simulation", a 120 day Mars analog simulation. This simulation will study the influence of some living and working conditions of spaceflight on humans including:
  • Long term isolation in closed quarters
  • Realistic space-flight cuisine
  • 20 minute communication delay with "Earth"
  • A working environment analogous to some areas of Mars
  • And much more!
The purpose of this blog is sharing my experience of applying for, and hopefully participating in, the HiSEAS simulation.

Over the course of the next year I'll regularly update this blog with milestones of my process, including applying, medical certification, interviews, training, and the mission itself.

Interested in applying as well? Application deadline is February 29th 2012!
